The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia’s economic and national security landscape for decades to come.The Director, Social Licence, South Australia, will be responsible for actively identifying and managing a range of key stakeholder relationships including Commonwealth, State and Local Governments in South Australia.The duties of an EL 2 SA Director, Social Licence, will include but are not limited to:You will coordinate and lead planning and implementation of a range of community engagement initiatives, activities and events in SA to promote and inform the Australian public on key elements of the program.You will identify and deliver opportunities for education of the public regarding the nuclear-powered submarine program initiatives and milestones.You will provide ongoing analysis and advice to ASA leadership on efforts to foster a social licence for Australia’s acquisition of conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines.Liaising with internal & external stakeholders, including from other Commonwealth Government agencies, international partners, industry, community groups, and the Australian publicRepresenting ASA at meetings and other engagementsAbout our TeamOur people are capable, committed and diverse. We offer flexible working arrangements and a range of formal and informal professional development opportunities.The Australian Submarine Agency’s (ASA) Policy, Strategy and Engagement Division is responsible for driving the policy and strategy framework for the ASA.This includes overseeing, managing and leading the implementation of key aspects of the AUKUS trilateral security partnership and nuclear-powered submarine program, in accordance with the Optimal Pathway.This includes, but is not limited to, developing advice around the Government’s strategic messaging on the program, efforts to build social license and our national engagement including with state and local governments and communities, developing and implementing fit-for-purpose nuclear non-proliferation and safeguards arrangements, managing international policy issues and engagement with the US, UK, Indo-Pacific partners, and the global non-proliferation community and international organisations,, and negotiating international agreements and arrangements with our AUKUS trilateral partners.
