Director, Audit and Assurance
Reporting to the Chief Internal Auditor (CIA), the Director, Audit and Assurance is responsible for supporting the CIA to provide independent assurance to the Secretary, the Executive and the Audit Committee on the efficiency and the effectiveness of the department's work. This role facilitates and strengthens accountability and promotes good governance through independent and objective advice.
Audit and Assurance assists the department to be effective in its work, strengthen accountability and promote good governance and transparency through the provision of independent and objective assurance to add value and improve the department's operations.
Demonstrating excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, the Director, Audit and Assurance works with all areas of the Department to embed the principles of better practice and continuous improvement while ensuring adherence to legal and financial accountability requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead a dynamic, highly driven team to deliver high quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment
* Play a central role within the branch and actively contribute as a member of the management team, including the delivery of the team's extensive workplan
* Ensure the department has appropriate policies, practices, and processes in place to meet governance, audit, and assurance obligations
* Translate strategic priorities into clear operational goals, standards, and deliverables
* Provide expert advice and exercise sound professional judgement to inform decision making
* Demonstrate strong experience in achieving results and driving continuous business process improvement
* Maintain significant engagement across the department's policy and program areas
* Build and sustain effective relationships with external stakeholders
* Provide strong leadership, with demonstrated managerial capability and motivation
* Apply relevant qualifications and comprehensive experience in internal audit and assurance at both strategic and operational levels
Qualifications and Education
* It is desirable that the successful applicant have qualifications relevant to internal audit.
