About the Role
The primary purpose of the Diesel Mechanic is to service, inspect and repair Qube mobile machinery and ancillary equipment (owned, partially owned, hired and/or leased to Qube).
Specific Responsibilities
* Carry out mechanical repairs and workshop duties to a high standard
* Maintain strong productivity and ensure work is completed on time
* Assist in training and or supervise Apprentices as required
* Keep the workshop clean and tidy
* Obtain Work Orders before commencing any work and follow any other necessary procedures
* Accurately complete work orders and repair documentation
* Identify required parts and communicate major part needs to the Supervisor to avoid delays
* Follow safe work procedures, including SLAM and lock‐out/tag‐out requirements
* Adhere to Qube safety standards, SWIs, and all site and road safety rules
* Report any incidents or hazards immediately
Safety, Health & Environment
* Follow all safety, health, and environmental procedures and take reasonable care for your own safety and that of others
* Use required PPE at all times and ensure safe operation of tools and equipment
* Report hazards, incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions immediately
* Participate in risk assessments and support the implementation of effective controls
* Stop work and notify a supervisor if there is any immediate danger
* Maintain a respectful, harassment‐free workplace and engage in safe work practices
* Protect the environment by preventing pollution and following environmental guidelines
* Arrive fit for work and free from fatigue, drugs, or alcohol
* Take part in required HSE training and keep relevant competencies current
* Support company HSE initiatives, including Zero Harm, and contribute to continuous improvement
Qualifications/Experience Required
* Heavy Rigid licence
* Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic trade certificate
* Minimum of two years' experience in a similar role
* Experience in mobile plant equipment. Heavy Vehicle mobile mining equipment preferred
* Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people
* Sound skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and Power point
* Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
* A High Risk Forklift Licence
* AUR31112 Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
* Senior First Aid Certificate
* Strong Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter fault finding skills
* Knowledge and understanding of applicable Commonwealth/State Safety and Environmental legislation and standards
Key Competencies/Skills Required
* An interest in Heavy Vehicle equipment
* A reasonable level of physical fitness
* Attention to detail with good hand eye co-ordination
* Strong communication skills including effective listening skills
* Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work effectively in a demanding environment
* Ability to work autonomously using a proactive approach to task resolution
* Deliver effective mechanical decisions to ensure mobile machinery, reliability and operability
