About Us
The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness, and response services, including scientific and specialist capabilities, to Queensland communities. The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), and other functions aimed at managing emergencies and supporting community safety. The QFD is also committed to enhancing its relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
Purpose of the role
* Protect and serve the community by responding to fires and emergencies to minimize loss of life, property, and environmental damage.
* Enhance community safety through fire prevention and education activities.
Entry requirements
* Recruit Firefighter or External Firefighter (see details at www.qfes.qld.gov.au/employment)
Mandatory requirements
* Valid Blue Card
* Manual Medium Rigid (MR) driver's license
* Current Apply First Aid Certificate
* Current Advanced Resuscitation Certificate
* Compliance with medical and fitness standards
* Criminal History Check
* Clinical Psychometric Assessment
Your key accountabilities
Operations Management
* Respond to fires, rescues, and other emergencies as part of a fire crew.
* Operate emergency vehicles and equipment safely.
* Provide first aid and maintain operational readiness.
* Perform functions within the operational management framework.
Community Safety Operations
* Promote fire prevention and community education.
* Assist with property inspections and emergency planning.
* Communicate effectively with the community and emergency personnel.
Professional Development
* Maintain and develop necessary competencies.
* Participate in relevant training and development programs.
Operations Business Management
* Undertake administrative duties and contribute to a safe work environment.
* Adhere to governance and legislative requirements.
