Knox Private Hospital is seeking a motivated and diligent Health Information Services Officer to join our Medical Records team on a casual basis.
About Us: Knox Private Hospital is one of the largest private hospitals in Victoria, caring for over 1.2 million people across Melbourne’s east and outer east. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department, covering a full range of medical and surgical specialty areas, including highly complex surgeries.
As a Health Information Services Officer, your responsibilities will include:
- Compiling and sorting medical records to be electronically tracked
- Medical record retrieval
- Internal and external phone and fax communication
- Provision of health information to internal and external clients
- Filing and culling of medical records
- Day to day functionality of the Health Information Service Department
- Participating in performance improvement activities
Essential Criteria:
- Proficient in use of email, web based applications and Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology (Desirable)
- Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (1982) (Desirable)
- Ability to work autonomously and as a team member in a small team environment
- Ability to work within deadlines
- Flexibility in responding to the changing needs of the business
- Commitment to document security and patient privacy
- Experience with the WebPAS patient information system (Desirable)
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting or record keeping workplace (Desirable)
- Previous experience in Health Information Services (Desirable)
