With a proud heritage dating back to 1929, Edlyn Foods has grown from humble beginnings into a nationally recognised Australian foodservice manufacturer, supplying a broad range of quality Beverage, Bakery, Dessert, Condiment and Culinary products to the foodservice industry.
Today, Edlyn operates multiple manufacturing facilities in Victoria (Epping & Maryborough), Queensland (Nerang), South Australia (Dublin) and multiple Sales, Warehouse and Distribution sites/offices Nationally, along with national sales, warehousing and distribution operations. Following sustained organic growth and recent acquisition activity, we are now seeking a highly capable and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead our finance function through the next phase of the company’s evolution.
The Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a senior leadership role responsible for providing financial clarity, discipline and insight across a growing, multi-site manufacturing business.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's financial strategy and ensuring robust financial management as we continue to scale. Managing an accomplished and well performing Finance team, this role is suited to a finance leader who combines strong technical capability, commercial judgement, operational understanding and the confidence to constructively challenge and influence at executive level.
Your responsibilities will be wide ranging with some of the main tasks for this role being (but not limited to):
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
Provide financial insight and decision support to drive sustainable growth, profitability and capital discipline.
Lead product, customer and channel profitability analysis, pricing governance and cost-to-serve modelling.
Support major commercial, operational and investment decisions with robust financial analysis and scenario modelling.
Manufacturing & Operations Finance
Drive consistent financial performance reporting across multiple manufacturing sites, including labour efficiency, yield, waste, overhead absorption and capex performance.
Partner with operations and supply chain leaders to improve cost control, productivity and financial accountability.
Oversee financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and statutory compliance.
Ensure reporting is accurate, timely and decision-useful.
Lead financial governance, risk management and internal control frameworks appropriate to a medium-to-large, multi-site operation.
Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, policies and controls.
Lead financial systems optimisation and data integrity initiatives, including ERP improvement and harmonisation across sites.
Support post-acquisition financial systems and process integration.
M&A & Growth Support
Support financial due diligence, valuation analysis and post-acquisition integration.
Ensure timely establishment of financial visibility, control and performance alignment following acquisitions.
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
Manage relationships with banks, auditors and external advisors.
Lead, mentor and develop a capable finance team with a strong commercial and accountability focus.
What Success Looks Like
In the first 12–18 months, success in this role will include:
Improved visibility and control of margin, cash and cost drivers.
More accurate forecasting and stronger capital and cash flow discipline.
Standardised, meaningful financial reporting across all manufacturing sites.
A finance function operating as a trusted business partner.
Who we are looking for :
Ideally coming with a proven track record gained from a similar role within a food manufacturing environment, to be considered for this opportunity we are seeking to hear from applicants who therefore possess:
Professional Qualifications:
CPA qualification (or equivalent) with a strong foundation in accounting principles and practice.
Industry Experience:
Senior finance leadership experience within a manufacturing, FMCG or similarly complex operating environment.
Financial Strategy & Planning:
Demonstrated expertise in financial strategy, long-term planning and governance - including proven success managing P&L performance, cash flow, budgets and forecasts to support business objectives.
Operational Understanding:
Strong appreciation of manufacturing economics and multi-site complexity.
Executive Influence:
Experience working closely with C-suite or executive leadership, with the ability to influence corporate-level decision-making through sound financial insights and with confidence to challenge constructively.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Advanced understanding of statutory compliance, taxation laws and regulatory frameworks relevant to a medium-to-large enterprise.
Leadership & Communication:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently and effectively with stakeholders at all levels (both internal and external).
