About the role:
Focus Minerals is currently seeking a
Mining Engineer
to join them on an
8/6 roster
based on site
.
You will be responsible for providing for the completion of the pit optimisations, mine plans, designs and schedules to ensure the supply of Gold to the TMH Processing Plant. This role will also assist in the medium to long term and strategic planning of the open pit mine operations.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Develop and deliver short term plans, drill and blast plans and weekly mining plans which are all validated as capable of execution and based on signed off operational, geological and geotechnical input.
* Maintain and/or modify as required, designs for pits, dumps and mine infrastructure in accordance with procedures and other supporting functions and processes.
* Coordinate all engineering activities with production teams, surveyors, geologists, drill and blast and contractor teams.
* Prepare monthly and quarterly development and production schedules and face positions and report on compliance to the plans
* Identify and investigate opportunities and methods for reducing unit production costs and maximizing output.
* Preparing medium and long term ore reserves estimate.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Relevant Tertiary qualification - Engineering or similar.
* Open cut mining experience for 2 years or more and exposure to technical services teams, duties and responsibilities.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in mining engineering with significant exposure to Gold mining.
* Exposure to technically challenging operations eg variable ore bodies and geotechnical ground conditions is highly desirable.
* Experience in Mine planning, Pit design, Geotechnical monitoring and assessment.
* Experience in the development of a mining project environment including Pit development and site layout establishment would be a distinct advantage.
* Proven ability to meet mining targets whilst focusing on safety standards, operational efficiencies, productivity and cost effectiveness.
* Competence in Microsoft Office suite and mine design packages (particularly Vulcan).
