Primary objective
Assist with the delivery of services relating to employment administration for client agencies with a variety of awards, industrial
agreements, and employment legislation.
Context statement
Workforce Services are delivered to client agencies under a centralised services model across a geographically and culturally diverse
environment. The Workforce Operations and Partnership team provides WS business partners, end to end recruitment and specialised
recruitment services and general HR support to client agencies. This role is based within the Employment Actions team and provides a
shared service for Whole of Government operational services relating to employee commencements, transfers, contract extensions and
associated employment activities.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Action tasks associated with employment activities to support and assist client agencies in a courteous and professional manner, and
ensure confidentiality is always maintained.
1. Provide accurate and timely information to clients and/or respond to less complex eRecruit or general HR queries from applicants or
client agencies, as required.
3. Support the operations of the employment actions team by providing administrative support and assistance with their recruitment,
commencement and broader activities.
4. Calculate and process salary and allowances as part of manual employee on-boarding.
5. Undertake records management and accurately input information into the appropriate HR system/database.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience in an administrative assistant or administrative support role, and/or a role requiring accurate numeracy skills.
2. Ability to quickly acquire the knowledge and understanding of and apply recruitment, employment actions and payroll related
procedures and employment legislation.
3. Good verbal and written communication skills to enable information to be accurately relayed to clients.
4. Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet timeframes and deadlines in a busy environment.
5. Ability to work effectively as a team member, demonstrate a high level of commitment to the workplace and contribute to, and support,
a positive team environment and outstanding customer service delivery.
6. Good computer literacy with an ability to utilise templates and structure formats to prepare clear written correspondence, and operate
a variety of office computer packages, e.g. word processing, databases and records/information management systems.

Desirable
1. Knowledge of the relevant employment legislation and computer systems used within the Northern Territory Public Sector, i.e. PIPS,
eRecruit and JIRA/HR Services portal.
