Job Description
Griffith University's Office for Research delivers professional research support services spanning infrastructure, facilities, grants, development, ethics, policy and performance and reporting. As Senior Research Development Manager, you will drive major cross-disciplinary research initiatives across Griffith, working with internal and external partners to secure competitive research funding.
This role involves providing strategic advice, fostering collaborations, and supporting researchers in developing successful major research funding applications. Key responsibilities include identifying opportunities, assessing feasibility, developing proposals, negotiating partner involvement, and managing strategic research grant opportunities in selected disciplines. You will also coordinate the development of strategic grant applications and major collaborative proposals, ensuring quality throughout the process and aligning resources across multiple disciplines.
The position is based in the Office for Research and requires liaison with Directors of research institutes and centres, Pro Vice Chancellor and Deans of Research. It demands effective interdisciplinary collaboration and the ability to work with senior leadership, industry partners and funding bodies.
About you
* Degree, preferably a higher research degree, in a discipline relevant to Griffith's research capabilities.
* Background in one or more of STEM, Arts, Education or Law disciplines; experience in ARC grant schemes is an advantage.
* Proven ability to identify, develop and drive large‐scale collaborative research initiatives and secure major funding.
* Extensive experience providing strategic advice and research development support within a university, industry or government setting.
* Strong relationship‐building and influencing skills, engaging effectively with researchers, senior leadership, industry partners and funding bodies.
* Exceptional analytical and problem‐solving skills and ability to interpret complex research funding landscapes.
* Excellent communication skills, including preparation of high‐quality proposals, reports, presentations and facilitation of workshops and training.
* Proactive, adaptable mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‐paced environment.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team and across disciplines to achieve shared goals.

Salary Range
Full‐time base salary for a HEW Level 9 is $137,165 – $142,070 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. Total FTE package is $160,483 – $166,222 per annum.
