The Team:

The Communicable Disease Prevention Unit (CDPU) comprises three divisions: Immunisation, Health Intelligence, and Response including Infection Prevention and Control. The primary purpose of the CDPU is to prevent and control communicable diseases within Tasmania. We actively engage with the public and collaborate closely with stakeholders to prevent and respond effectively to notifiable diseases.

The CDPU has delegated statutory responsibility for aspects of the Public Health Act 1997and for the Poisons Regulations 2018relating to immunisation. We receive notifications of diseases from laboratories and medical practitioners as stipulated in the Guidelines for Notifying Diseases and Food Contaminants.

The Role:

This role will be responsible for creating data collection tools using an html-based platform (Whispir), matching and transforming large volumes of data across multiple information systems. The incumbent will contribute to the day-to-day work of the health informatics team including information monitoring, data entry, data validation and data management activities required to provide a high-level public health response in Tasmania.

You will need:

* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including proven conflict resolution, negotiation and liaison skills and the capacity to work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders in a multidisciplinary environment.
* Demonstrated experience in developing data collection tools for communicable diseases in SQL, HTML or related programming software, working with web-based information systems and data transfer across multiple systems
* Demonstrated extensive skills and experience with database management, data management processes, and the ability to produce meaningful and accurate reports and submissions.

Details of appointment:

Fixed Term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2027.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $81,915 to $94263 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance withPublic Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

* Postgraduate qualifications in public health or health system management
* Experience in the management of health or surveillance data.
