Position Details

Temporary full‑time position up to June (35 hours per week)

Office location – Parramatta (hybrid working supported)

Salary – $109,102 to $120,542 plus super


Role Overview

This role supports the growth and impact of the Healthy Country Team by delivering new conservation initiatives and strengthening partnerships with Aboriginal communities. You'll help drive impactful biodiversity conservation projects that embed Aboriginal voices and perspectives in environmental management.

In this role, you'll contribute to project research, analysis, reporting and implementation, while engaging with Aboriginal communities, researchers, and government and non‑government stakeholders to achieve project goals. You'll also support the review and improvement of systems and processes to enable effective and inclusive project delivery.

This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti‑discrimination Act.


About You

* You're a proud Aboriginal person with strong connections to community, Country and culture, and you're passionate about strengthening those ties through meaningful partnerships that embed Aboriginal voices, knowledge and cultural practices in conservation.
* You have a proven ability to build respectful relationships and support projects that deliver positive outcomes for Aboriginal peoples and the environment.
* You bring experience working with Aboriginal peoples, communities and organisations and have a strong understanding of contemporary public policy issues, particularly those relating to the environment and Aboriginal communities in NSW.
* You're skilled in supporting program, project and policy development and implementation, as well as reviewing and improving policies and procedures.
* With sound knowledge of business and coordination processes, you're confident preparing reports, submissions and briefing materials.


Essential Requirements

* Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person; accepted as such by the community.
* Current Australian Driver's Licence.
* A willingness and ability to travel.
* Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti‑discrimination Act.

DCCEEW also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state to support the environment, communities and industry.

Department Closure
