Overview
Coordinator Development Assessment (Relocation Support Available). This is a full-time role based in Glen Innes, NSW. Base pay range is up to A$120,000 per year, plus super, relocation assistance, and hybrid work options. 70 hours per fortnight with a monthly RDO.
Glen Innes Severn Council is seeking a capable leader to head the planning section, oversee development assessments, provide strategic advice, and drive process improvements to support the region's growth.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the planning team.
Assess and determine development applications in accordance with legislation and internal KPIs.
Coordinate input from multidisciplinary teams and consultants during assessments.
Facilitate and chair pre-lodgement Development Assessment Unit meetings.
Prepare high-quality planning reports and supervise staff documentation.
Monitor and improve internal development assessment processes.
Represent Council in legal proceedings including the NSW Land and Workplace Court.
Contribute to and facilitate strategic planning projects and policy development.
Support and promote planning awareness in the community.
About You / Qualifications
3–5 years experience in statutory planning within local government.
Current Class C driver's licence.
Strong working knowledge of NSW planning legislation and the ability to apply it practically.
Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline (preferred).
Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
Experience in court representation, including the NSW Land and Environment Court (preferred).
Eligibility for membership with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) (preferred).
Collaborative, can-do leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
Entrepreneurial thinking to identify opportunities for improvement and growth within the LGA.
Desire to shape how planning is communicated and delivered to the community.
