The Kitchen Technician plays a key support role within the Year 8 Paddock to Plate elective, assisting teaching staff in the preparation and delivery of engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Working closely with teachers, the role involves preparing ingredients and resources, supporting classroom activities, and helping create a safe, organised, and dynamic kitchen environment for students.
This position is well suited to someone with a passion for food and education, who enjoys working collaboratively in a team environment and contributing to a positive and practical learning experience for students. The successful candidate will also assist in maintaining the kitchen space, managing equipment and supplies, and supporting food safety practices.
Hours of Duty are 8:30am to 4:30pm (inclusive of a 30-minute unpaid lunch break) across one day per week, currently Tuesday, however this may vary in accordance with timetable requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant qualifications and/or experience in a comparable role
* Interest in food preparation and food technology
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to complete this)
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of safe food practices
* Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) (Employee status), or ability to obtain
* Hold a current First Aid (HTLAID 009), CPR (HLTAID 011), and asthma qualification
* Have completed the Protecting Children - Mandatory Reporting and other Obligations module - The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET)
* Completion of the College anaphylaxis qualification or 22578VIC anaphylaxis qualification
* Provide Evidence of Right to Work in Australia
