About the Job
The National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking a skilled Field Officer to join our team at the Barwon Area office in Narrabri. As a Field Officer, you will contribute to the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna, and Aboriginal heritage.
Field Officers provide support for various activities related to the maintenance and improvement of park assets within NPWS parks and reserves. Under the guidance of Senior Field Officers, your daily work will include pest and weed control, routine maintenance, construction, installation of new assets, and conservation works.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conducting regular site visits to monitor and maintain park assets;
* Assisting with pest and weed control measures;
* Performing routine maintenance tasks, including repairs and minor construction projects;
* Installing and maintaining park equipment and facilities;
* Collaborating with other teams to achieve conservation objectives.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* A current Australian Class C Driver's license or equivalent, with four-wheel driving certification;
* Demonstrated ability and experience to carry out all duties safely and obtain relevant SafeWork NSW certification to operate and maintain plant and equipment, including conditionally registered vehicles, watercraft, lifting apparatus, and road maintenance plant, along with First Aid certification;
* Certification in operating a chainsaw to crosscut standard, two-way radio operation, and frontline firefighting duties, including crew member or higher certification within the probationary period (up to 12 months).
