Job Title: Senior Cyber Security Expert
At our organization, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Cyber Security Expert to join our team. As a key member of our Professional Services team, you will be responsible for providing specialized technical expertise to enhance the security posture of Australian Government systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide expert advice and hands-on technical support to multiple Australian Government entities, strengthening security controls across diverse system environments.
* Design, implement, and remediate security solutions in alignment with ASD's ISM, the Essential Eight, and other industry cyber security standards.
* Develop and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, change requests, design documents, and as-built/as-configured records.
* Participate in and lead technical workshops focused on security engineering design, implementation, and remediation activities.
* Contribute to strategic security uplift initiatives across Microsoft, Linux/Unix, cloud, networking, and enterprise environments.
* Support alignment of operational tasks with organisational goals, ensuring work programs contribute to broader Defence and ASD objectives.
* Provide direction and clarity to team members, outlining work priorities, expected outcomes, and alignment with strategic objectives.
* Work effectively in onsite, hybrid, or remote settings while maintaining high levels of independence and accountability.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
* Minimum 7 years' experience as a Systems Engineer, with capability across one or more of the following: Microsoft Active Directory, Networking, gateway or software-defined networking, Cross Domain Solutions and data diodes, Sentinel or Splunk, Enterprise Linux/Unix (e.g., RHEL), Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, SaaS/PaaS/IaaS), Complex Windows enterprise environments.
* Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across hybrid or remote teams.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing technical documentation, reports, and executive-level briefings.
* Ability to provide leadership and direction to others, clearly articulating the purpose and importance of assigned tasks.
* Demonstrated capacity to link operational work to larger organisational goals and security uplift outcomes.
* Experience setting work tasks for others, aligning priorities with strategic objectives, and communicating expected deliverables.
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent industry certifications.
* Demonstrated experience identifying, implementing, and applying cyber security controls.
* Ability to obtain or hold NV2 or TSPV security clearance (mandatory for the role).
