Overview


As we continue to grow, we're seeking a Field Service Technician (Heavy Diesel Mechanic / HD Fitter) to join our APS team in Victoria (Truganina). This is a permanent full-time role based in Truganina, VIC.

For over 40 years, we've been a privately-owned, family-operated business that puts safety at the forefront of everything we do. Employing over 600 people nationwide, we support customers in maintaining and repairing critical port-based materials handling equipment, including mobile straddle carriers and other heavy machinery.

Operating from our state-of-the-art Truganina service facility, APS technicians are fully accredited and bring extensive experience working on some of the largest and most unique port machinery around. We also have a fleet of mobile technicians who perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs onsite—minimising downtime for our customers.

Responsibilities

* Fault Finding & Troubleshooting: Diagnosing issues and resolving breakdowns in the field or at our Truganina facility.
* Scheduled Maintenance & Servicing: Performing routine checks and services to keep port-based materials handling equipment in top shape.
* Technical Problem-Solving: Utilizing your mechanical know-how to tackle diverse challenges in hydraulics, diesel engines, and more.
* On-Site Support: Delivering high-quality service at customer sites, minimizing downtime and ensuring operations run smoothly.
* Collaborative Projects: Working alongside your team on large overhauls and new equipment commissions.


Qualifications

* Heavy Diesel Mechanic or HD Fitter Experience: Solid background in the Heavy Equipment industry (transport, construction, agricultural, or mining).
* Mechanical Aptitude & Diagnostics: Familiarity with servicing, diagnostics, hydraulics, and the ability to perform a physically active role.
* Safety Mindset & Communication: A commitment to best-practice safety measures, along with strong communication skills.
* Valid Driver Licence & Trade Qualification: Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, or similar.
* Full Working Rights in Australia & Health Clearance: Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
