Group and Team: City Infrastructure Group, Road Plant Team. Location: Clearys Gates Depot. Employment status: Permanent, Full-time. Classification: Municipal Employee Level 5. Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2024. Salary range: $71,231 to $72,788 per annum + 13.5% superannuation.

About the role
This role places you at the heart of operations using excavators, trucks and other plant to keep the city running smoothly. You will work safely, support your team, and help deliver quality services the community can rely on.
Role accountabilities include:
* Safely operate trucks and plant by following all SWMS, SOPs and site safety instructions.
* Maintain and check machinery daily, keeping equipment clean, safe and reporting any faults.
* Carry out construction, maintenance, asphalt and civil works as directed by the Team Leader or Supervisor.
* Work well with others, communicating clearly with staff, contractors and the public, and supporting a positive team environment.
* Provide onsite leadership, including managing excavation risks, supporting Team Leaders, training staff, and assisting with incident investigations.
You have solid experience working with plant, equipment and heavy vehicles, and you know how to keep them in good, safe condition through simple daily checks and basic maintenance. You understand key safety and NHVR requirements and ensure vehicles meet loading rules. You have worked in civil construction before. You care about working safely, support your team, manage your own tasks well and demonstrate positive behaviours and values in day-to-day work.
Essentials for the role:
Completion of Year 10 or a Certificate II level qualification coupled with Competencies Assessment Certification to the Civil Contractors Federation guidelines to operate Road Construction and Earthmoving equipment.
Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry – White Card (3PCCWHS1001) or ability to obtain.
High Risk Work Licences (or ability to obtain):
* Vehicle Loading Crane 10 tonne/metre
* RIIMPO320E Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations
* Current Drivers Licence
