How will your ideas contribute to shaping what's next?
As our new Senior Acoustic Engineer, you'll be a key member of Aurecon's specialist Acoustics team, helping to shape the soundscapes of Australia's most complex and high‑profile projects. You'll join a tight‑knit, collaborative team of more than 10 specialists across Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney - large enough to work on tier‑one projects, small enough that your impact is seen and valued.
Unlike many firms that silo engineers into architectural or environmental acoustics, Aurecon offers the rare opportunity to work across both, building a broad, future‑proof skillset. This role is ideal for someone with 5–6 years of experience who thrives in a technically challenging environment, enjoys mentoring junior engineers, and is passionate about creating spaces that sound as good as they look - from performance‑driven buildings to large‑scale infrastructure.
Here are the key things you will do to 'bring ideas to life':
* Lead and contribute to acoustic design for buildings, including sound privacy, reverberation, and noise control.
* Support environmental noise assessments and environmental compliance for infrastructure and energy projects.
* Work independently to deliver technical solutions and ask the right questions to guide design outcomes.
* Mentor and train graduates and junior engineers, sharing knowledge and building capability within the team.
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver integrated acoustic solutions.
* Prepare technical reports, specifications, and modelling outputs using industry-standard tools.
* Contribute to major projects including data centres, battery energy storage, and transport infrastructure.

What we're looking for:
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
* 5–6 years' experience in architectural and/or environmental acoustics.
* Strong technical capability in acoustic modelling, analysis, and reporting.
* Ability to work independently and mentor junior team members.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Passion for innovation and sustainability in acoustic design.
* Familiarity with state EPA guidelines and Australian Standards.
