Ratho Farm is one hour's scenic drive north of Hobart in the highlands of Tasmania, on the edge of Bothwell village. The property has 22 accommodation rooms in beautifully restored convict cottages, farm barns and stables; an 80 seat restaurant, and multiple event spaces. Ratho Farm also extends to our sister property, the iconic Bothwell Hotel of the Highlands ) which is located 1 km away in the Bothwell village and has an additional 7 ensuite rooms, antique shop, gallery, Whisky Bar & Piano Lounge.
Ratho Farm's fun, quirky golf course is best known as Australia's oldest, and is the only public 18-hole golf course in Southern Tasmania. The property is also a very popular wedding venue.
We are seeking friendly, professional and enterprising manager or management couple to run and grow Ratho Farm Highlands Resort, particularly taking the golf operations & golfcourse conditioning, to the next level. The successful applicant/s will be warm and engaging, enjoy others' company sharing the region's rich Scottish history, and be able to multitask as 'hosts' to provide a memorable home-style atmosphere of high quality hospitality.
The individual or couple may be responsible for overseeing all operations of the business, in a charming colonial setting which is open to the public seven days a week, and popular with golfing tourists, fisher-folk, history enthusiasts and a wide range of events. The venue has a unique 'hosted' feel, where visitors feel like private guests of the estate. Responsibilities include home-cooking, story-telling, face-to-face delivery of food & beverage, coordinating the servicing of boutique accommodation, while coordinating property maintenance, housekeeping and a chef when needed for large groups. All amongst delivering a busy event schedule.
This is a hands-on position with direct reporting to the owner. The manager(s) will be responsible for all aspects of a smooth running and profitable business, with a primary focus on leading a team to maintain a high standard of service while ensuring administrative and in-house operations are kept up-to-date.
You will need to have excellent communication skills and ability to delegate between yourselves and to your team to ensure your presence is felt by guests and staff alike.
On-site accommodation, car & living expenses will be available to an appropriate manager/couple/family. If required, practical assistance will be provided to settle in or near Bothwell.
Requirements:
To be successful in your application, between you both you must have:
* Sound knowledge of all aspects of daily accommodation and restaurant operations and requirements including staff/roster management, stock rotation/ordering;
* Have strong leadership, communication, administrative and computer skills;
* Be prepared to oversee an upgrading of turf conditions & golf course irrigation with our greenkeeping team, & project manage a range of infrastructure projects;
* Ideally have knowledge and experience and a passion for hospitality and an interest in at least one of the following: colonial history, fishing, genealogy, or golf;
* Currently have the right to work in Australia and hold or be able to obtain RSA and other appropriate industry certificates;
* Ability to prepare food and provide excellent customer service;
* Be able to conduct minor property maintenance.

Salary:
Competitive remuneration package, based on the successful applicant's experience. The package includes base salary, a quarterly bonus if KPIs are met, accommodation 7 days a week, food, car and a mobile phone.
Total package range $75K - $150K, includes benefits
Work Type:
Full time, 4 days on, 3days off each week.
