Structural Engineering Project Discipline Lead
SSOE is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Structural Engineering Project Discipline Lead for our Solar/Battery Practice, who develops innovative projects in a transformational and growth sector.
About the Role
* Acts as a structural discipline project lead in a multi-discipline design team, overseeing a multi-location production team, with strong client engagement skills.
* Responsible for the performance of the team to contracted scope, schedule, and budget on medium- to large-sized battery / solar PV manufacturing projects. Manage technical resources to accomplish project objectives.
Responsibilities
* Generates comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models aligned with industry standards and client requirements for industrial facilities building structures.
* Applies knowledge of seismic design requirements for concrete and steel structures, and foundations, demonstrating understanding of structural safety standards and thorough knowledge of building codes and material standards.
* Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the client.
* Coordinates work with other disciplines.
* Uses engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
* Responsible for the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the work.
* Responsible for overall quality management of the team. Performing quality reviews of project deliverables to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria, and conformance to good engineering practices.
* Participates in managing change for deviations in scope, schedule, or professional services for the discipline.
* Meets with contractors to discuss technical aspects of project design and construction.
* Conducts field verification and site walks to identify, validate, resolve, and integrate solutions into design packages. Resolve design issues on-site during construction, as necessary.
* Provides leadership, guidance, mentoring/coaching less experienced staff.
* Contributes to business development activities as needed.
* Participates in proposal preparation activities to establish scope of services, effort hour estimate(s), exclusions/clarifications, deliverables, and staffing/work plans to align with the project schedule.

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
* PE or SE required with eight (8) or more years of related practical experience with former employer(s), demonstrating the need for seasoned professionals in the field.
* Experience with structural analysis software including RISA and Profis, showcasing proficiency in industry-standard tools.
* Experience with Revit.
* Experience with other software such as BIM360, Bluebeam, and Navisworks.
* Solid knowledge and understanding of structural fundamentals.
* Knowledge of Building Codes and Material Standards.
* Knowledge of seismic design/detailing requirements of concrete structures, steel structures, and foundations, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of structural safety standards.
* Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese speakers a plus.
* Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.
* Valid passport required for occasional project-related international travel.
