Practice Manager - Tom Price Medical Centre
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Practice Manager to run our two medical centres in Tom Price and Paraburdoo.
Overview
The Tom Price Medical Centre (TPMC) is located in the heart of the Pilbara region of Western Australia. TPMC has two General Practice clinics at Tom Price and Paraburdoo and provides medical professionals to the Tom Price Hospital Emergency Department. We are a friendly, dynamic and patient-focused team, experienced administrative staff, and a practice nurse(s). You will be working in an environment that is dedicated to ensuring that patients receive the highest level of patient care in a comfortable environment. TPMC is backed by Private Emergency Health Australia (PEHA), which is Australia's largest provider of outsourced private emergency departments.
Additional Support: As the role is in a remote part of Australia, the successful candidate will be provided with a four-bedroom house with a pool provided for minimal rent. Garden and pool maintenance is included in the arrangement at no charge to you. Electricity and water charges are also subsidised.
Regional AirFare Zone Cap: The Regional Airfare Zone Cap (Zone Cap) is a State Government initiative allowing WA regional residents to access a capped airfare for personal travel on eligible routes to and from Perth. The current cap is $299 one way from Paraburdoo to Perth.
Responsibilities
* Day-to-day practice operations with well-developed medical administrative and operational skills
* Patient Billings – private and Medicare
* Staff rostering across the two medical practices
* Monitoring and maintenance of office and medical equipment
* Ensuring legal compliance by implementing and monitoring applicable HR best practice systems, risk management and workplace health and safety
* Preparation for GP Accreditation, including record-keeping and quality improvement processes
* Financial Management, including record keeping, payroll management, expense and debt management, which the PEHA Finance Team supports
* Managing doctor rostering with the support of the PEHA Recruitment team
* Organising doctor travel and accommodation requirements
* Nurturing and developing strong relationships with medical professionals and the Tom Price and Paraburdoo communities
* Engaging with key stakeholders, including Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO), WA Country Health Service (WACHS), the Nintirri Centre and WA Primary Health Alliance
Qualifications and Requirements
* Previous experience supervising and leading teams in a private medical practice
* Understand the operational functions of a medical practice and the role the practice manager plays in ensuring smooth operations
* Competent in medical software (ideally Best Practice) and Microsoft Office
* Advanced knowledge of all patient billings – Medicare, DVA, private, WorkCover
* Knowledge of legislative requirements in a healthcare setting, including accreditation
* Energetic and with a can-do attitude. Committed to a high level of integrity and professional standards
* Ability to problem solve and be highly organised
* A high level of communication and interpersonal skills to be able to interact appropriately with all staff, patients and carers
* Experience in mentoring and leading a team
* Organised, punctual and time efficient
