**The Opportunity**
Several opportunities are available to join a busy Department with a strong media presence. You will be responsible for various media activities.
You will be responsible for media monitoring, responding to media enquiries, liaising directly with external media and ministers office, as well as undertaking general writing tasks to support other business areas when required.
**Key duties will include**:
- Work with experts within the organisation to identify proactive media opportunities, and develop media strategies and campaigns
- Provide strategic advice to the senior leadership team, and work with members of the executive to develop positive relationships with media outlets
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, including Ministers' offices, and partner agencies and organisations to develop media activities and products
- Manage reactive media queries for the section/department
- Focus on ministerial media engagement, which includes preparing ministerial media releases to understanding how the department will effectively communicate an opportunity to a Ministers Office

**Skills and Experience required**:
- Demonstrated high level experience writing, editing, and proofreading a range of media release, speeches and ministerial content
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced media role and dealing with issues management
- Knowledge and implementation of government communications strategies
- Experience managing relationships and communicating effectively with external and internal stakeholders, including journalists
Previous experience in a media role (or similar) in either the APS, NFP or commercial sectors is required.
Whilst Government experience isn't necessary, an understanding of media practices and workflows are essential.
