Ormeau Woods State High School is seeking an innovative, strategic and relational leader with a passion for curriculum development and quality teaching and learning to join our leadership team as Head of Department - HPE.
The successful instructional leader will lead programs and initiatives that engage and support students to achieve success, demonstrate strong curriculum leadership and can enact effective pedagogies.
This role involves working collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and external partners to ensure every student and staff member in the HPE faculty is supported to achieve their best.

Key Responsibilities
Leading the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
Lead the HPE team with a focus on collaboration, trust, and open communication.
Coordinate curriculum planning, assessment, and reporting within the HPE department.
Oversee departmental resources, equipment, and budgets effectively.
Promote a culture of excellence and inclusivity in teaching and learning practices.
Encourage innovative and evidence-based pedagogies that promote lifelong physical activity and wellbeing.
Build strong connections between the school, families, and local sporting or health organisations.
Promote a department culture that values inclusion, respect, and emotional safety.
