**About us**
Water is the most valuable natural resource in the world. The work of the Reliability and Maintenance Improvement Team is essential to continuously improving the health of the rivers and beaches of Greater Sydney. We are developing and overseeing execution of the Maintenance Program including preventive maintenance strategies, major periodic maintenance and root cause investigations of our water and wastewater plants, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs and facilities. We are also initiating and driving improvement programs. These include ensuring new assets consider safety in design in relation to maintenance and utilising the latest university lead research for remote sensing, robotic inspections and AI/machine learning guided analytics. You will be able to make a real difference to the community and the environment through this essential service.

**About the role**
As the Leader of the Reliability and Maintenance Improvement Team you are responsible for the development, monitoring and improvement of the Maintenance Program. You are supported by a team who provide Maintenance program metrics to enable you to prioritise your focus areas. You have direct accountability for the teams of Reliability Engineers who work alongside operations teams to prevent equipment failures, identify root cause and plan renewals and overhauls. The Reliability Engineers partner with the maintenance and operations teams and lead a cross functional forum of operations, maintenance, process and project personnel to assess risk and make recommendations for where Sydney Water should invest its maintenance budget. To support a significant change in maintenance outcomes for the business, you also lead a Maintenance Improvement Team which is driving a substantial program of change, capability development, process improvement and cross division collaboration. Included in this program of work are opportunities to collaborate with colleagues from Innovation, Digital, Investment and universities to identify, pilot and operationalise the latest maintenance and condition assessment technologies.
Sydney Water's Maintenance and Reliability program is high profile and your role is a highly visible one with regular collaboration across the business and interaction with external regulators. There is a significant increase in investment planned over coming years as the requirement for maintenance increases as our assets continue to age and the scale of new growth provides an opportunity for smarter ways of monitoring these newly installed assets in real time to ensure future reliability. Your role spans the full scale of treatment plants to pipelines and every asset in between. Your actions will lead directly to delivering long term value from these assets and maximising asset performance over their lifetime.
Your team of >50 engineers and analysts includes a leadership team of seven managers and specialist leaders. You will also be working closely with data analytics, and engineering teams within your business of Engineering and Technical Support.
