Mater Private Hospital Townsville is excited to offer an internal opportunity for experienced Registered Nurse who is ready to take the next step in their career. We are seeking a motivated individual to step into a Patient Flow Manager role on a 6-week short-term secondment, providing leave coverage. This secondment is due to commence Monday 27 April 2026 – Sunday 7 June 2026. In this role you will work 72 hours a fortnight Monday – Friday excluding every second Monday.

The Patient Flow Manager provides clinical leadership and coordination of hospital services, resources, and workforce management in collaboration with nursing units. This role is pivotal in managing bed flow, ensuring effective clinical communication between nursing units and After-Hours Coordinators, and overseeing the casual nursing workforce.
Salary range: $ $72.58 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits
What You'll Be Doing
* Facilitate efficient patient flow, matching capacity and demand in line with Mater policies.
* Act as the central point of contact for casual nursing staff enquiries and workforce coordination.
* Collaborate with nursing units to ensure best practice, patient-centred care.
* Lead recruitment, onboarding, and rostering for the casual nursing workforce.
* Maintain oversight of time and attendance systems (Kronos) for relevant staff.
* Support quality improvement initiatives, risk management, and accreditation processes.
* Provide leadership and act as a professional resource to staff, fostering a cooperative work environment.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders including Nurse Unit Managers, Allied Health, and Support Services teams.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
* Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
* Advanced nursing skills and experience in acute care settings, including recent Critical Care experience.
* Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Experience in patient flow, access, and workforce management.
* A customer-centred approach and commitment to Mater Mission & Values.
* Qualifications or experience in business management or related discipline.
* Experience in recruitment, onboarding, and rostering coordination.
* Ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
