Overview
The Shepherd Centre (TSC) is a not-for-profit providing specialised programs for children with hearing loss and their families. We support children of all ages through programs such as our early intervention program for babies and toddlers, the Hear for You mentoring program for school-aged children and teens, and HearHub for health professionals. We operate across 10 locations in NSW, ACT, Queensland and Tasmania, plus online services.
About the role
We’re seeking a Marketing & Events Assistant to support our Marketing team during a high-volume period of campaigns and events. This is a full-time, 4-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension. The role requires two days per week in our Newtown office, with up to three days from home.
You’ll assist with logistics, supplier coordination, marketing activities, and provide direct support to the Senior Marketing Coordinator and Director of Marketing. We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive, and collaborative — someone who keeps projects moving and makes it easier for the team to deliver great outcomes.
What you’ll do
- Event Coordination: Assist with planning and delivery of multiple events (Sydney & interstate; no travel required). Draft and coordinate invitations, RSVP lists, signage and collateral.
- Marketing & General Support: Prepare briefs, obtain quotes, liaise with suppliers/agencies, coordinate timelines, and keep meticulous records. Provide ad hoc support including briefing notes, presentations, internal comms, donor/family engagement support, print & merchandise orders, contact list updates, proofreading, and responding to marketing enquiries.
- Content Production: Prepare and manage photography/videography briefs and coordinate content capture.
- Communication & Relationship Management: Communicate clearly, professionally and with sensitivity. Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, families, donors, suppliers and VIPs. Ensure updates are timely and thoughtful — how we communicate matters as much as what we communicate.
- Meetings & Logistics: Organise meetings, workshops and launches (logistics, agendas, minutes, actions).
- Reporting & Evaluation: Track event/campaign results to inform reporting and continuous improvement.
About you
- Highly organised, proactive, resourceful and calm under pressure; comfortable “managing up.”
- Clear, considerate communicator with strong attention to detail
- Full working rights to work in Australia
- Willingness to obtain WWCC and NDIS Worker Check
- Experience: 1–2 years in an administrative, events or customer-facing role (marketing experience not essential)
- Nice to have: Canva/design basics, budget tracking, stakeholder liaison, social media scheduling
