About the role
Position Summary
This position's primary focus is to support and assist senior members of the division in completing their core duties, with ongoing development and learning to scale up responsibilities and ultimately become autonomous in advising clients on R&D Tax and commercial matters.
Responsibilities
* Develop an understanding of the following concepts:
* Eligibility for the R&D Tax Incentive;
* Eligible Expenditure and Allowable Deductions;
* Interactions between R&D Tax Incentive legislation and general income tax provisions;
* Differences between accounting and tax treatments (e.g. accounting capital vs tax capital), and general understanding of accounting and tax fundamentals;
* Claiming R&D expenditure from the Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet; and
* Requirements of regulators of companies claiming the R&D Tax Incentive.
* Develop knowledge of various industries (IT, Engineering and Science preferred) that are able to claim the R&D Tax Incentive;
* Ability to complete R&D technical reports, costings, ATO schedules and close out letters;
* Ability to understand the professional services framework, business and billing models, and the ability to manage a portfolio of clients to ensure all billing and cash collection targets are met;
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills with clients both through written correspondence and verbally;
* Demonstrate ability to understand and apply the law, including R&D Tax legislation, other provisions of the Income Tax Acts, and other related legislation (e.g. Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)); and
* Ability to undertake various administrative tasks including preparing files, filing, completing timesheets and organising meetings.
About you
Education requirements:
* Computer Science / Data Science / IT or ICT / Engineering / Accounting / Tax / Law / Business Law degree
* Double degrees combining Accounting/Law/Tax with a technical degree in Computer Science/Data Science/Engineering/IT will be advantageous.
