Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital St John of God Bunbury Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse to join the Critical Care Services team in a fixed‑term, part‑time capacity. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a leadership role within a high‑acuity clinical environment, supporting the delivery of safe, high‑quality patient care. The Clinical Nurse acts as a responsible and effective team member and leader, contributing to the overall clinical management of the unit. The role is responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care and for supervising care delivered by nursing staff, in line with AHPRA requirements. Working closely with the Nurse Manager, the Clinical Nurse participates in direct patient care while assisting with supervision and management duties, ensuring all ward activities align with the Mission, Philosophy and Values of St John of God Health Care and the objectives of the Nursing Division. This role is ideal for a dedicated nursing professional who is passionate about clinical excellence, leadership, and delivering compassionate care within a supportive and values‑based organisation. The Position Supervises clinical practice of all caregivers taking responsibility for standard of care delivered. Initiates reviews and coordinates care of patients with complex health problems. Serves as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times. Actively contributes to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty. Responsible and accountable for nominated portfolios as designated by Nurse Unit Manager and actively communicate with Nurse Unit Manager regarding updates. Participates in and takes responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions. Systematically evaluates actions and documents the outcomes of nursing/medical interventions (including monitoring diagnostic results) and report significant anomalies promptly. Ensures documentation of planned nursing care and holistic care plan remains current and regularly evaluate documentation of the multidisciplinary team to determine their compliance to hospital policy. Prioritises departmental workloads using resources appropriately and cost effectively. Assist the Nurse Unit Manager with the submission of annual capital budget and business plans relevant to the Department. Reviews products and equipment and provides documentation and education on evaluation. Assists in developing, implementing and reviewing specific departmental orientation programs with Nurse Unit Manager, acts as a preceptor as required. Participate in Manager Meetings as well as relevant committees and working parties as required. Acts as shift coordinator as required and in liaison with the Nurse / After Hours Manager/ Perioperative flow manager and monitors staffing levels continuously to ensure appropriate numbers of skilled staff are available within the agreed productivity targets. • Contributes to planning, problem solving and change management within the Nursing Division throughout the hospital as required. Liaises with the multidisciplinary team, to ensure effective use of human and material ward resources and coordinated inter departmental activities. Develop and maintain effective relationships with relevant internal and external Key Stakeholders to build and enhance service delivery on a divisional and group-wide basis. In collaboration with Nurse Unit Manager and Human Resources, monitors and promote adherence by caregivers to hospital Policies, procedures and standards. Assisting with managing performance concerns Applicants must hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, with significant recent post‑registration experience and the ability to practice at an advanced clinical level within the Critical Care speciality. A sound understanding of relevant legislation, codes, and professional standards is required, along with strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise, delegate, and support a nursing team. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop team and individual performance, resolve issues, and support professional accountability. A commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and care standards is essential, together with computer literacy, the ability to educate and support patients and families, and a strong focus on ongoing professional development.
