A position is now available for a Materials Technician at a NATA Accredited Laboratory based in Nerang Quarry. This role is crucial to ensuring the quality of aggregates, with responsibilities split between fieldwork and lab testing. We're looking for someone self-motivated, physically fit, safety-conscious, and customer-focused with robust interpersonal and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field sampling and testing of aggregates in both the quarry and on-site lab.
- Maintain equipment calibrations and daily checks to meet NATA standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams and provide technical support.
- Use of laboratory information systems (LIMS), Excel, Outlook, and other computer-based tools.
- Work full-time, 50â55 hours per week, with some Saturday shifts as needed.
- Earn competitive hourly rates, including penalties (1.5x after 8 hours, 2x after 10 hours).
Ideal Candidate:
- Prior experience testing aggregates (AS1289 & TMRQ methods).
- Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques (preferred but not essential).
- Strong safety awareness and work ethic.
- Solid IT, literacy, and numeracy skills.
- Manual driverâs license (QLD).
- Comfortable working Saturdays and regular overtime.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
