Manager Inventory, Systems & Planning | Expat FIFO Role
A career-defining opportunity awaits an experienced Manager to lead inventory, systems, and planning functions for a landmark APAC mining "mega project" at the greenfield development stage. This is your chance to architect and implement world‑class inventory management systems from the ground up, working with cutting‑edge technology platforms including SAP S4HANA, Ariba, and Power BI. Working on a FIFO expat basis in Karachi, you will be instrumental in establishing inventory strategies, optimizing supply chain systems, and driving digital transformation initiatives. Reports to: Head of Supply and Commercial; Department: Supply Chain
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement inventory strategies aligned with business needs and project timelines.
- Oversee inventory planning, forecasting, stock replenishment, and obsolescence management.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through regular audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation processes.
- Monitor and report KPIs such as stock turnover, availability, and carrying cost.
- Ensure effective planning and tracking of reagents and critical items on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Support project ramp‑up and demobilization activities through material requirement planning.
- Lead the configuration, enhancement, and governance of inventory management systems (SAP S4HANA, Ariba, etc.).
- Drive digital transformation initiatives in inventory management, including automation and analytics integration.
- Ensure optimum system functioning according to business processes, utilizing and optimizing system functionality in the simplest manner possible.
- Manage the interface between supply chain systems and operational technology platforms.
- Be a key driver and give input to the corporate IT landscape and supply chain direction.
- Lead a team of planners and analysts in ensuring optimal inventory levels and system utilization.
- Collaborate with procurement, warehousing, finance, and operations to align inventory planning with business requirements.
- Identify and resolve systemic issues impacting inventory performance or data accuracy.
- Conduct root cause analysis on inventory variances and develop corrective action plans.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance, audit, and health & safety standards.
- Provide strategic insights and regular reporting to senior leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- 15+ years’ experience in inventory management, planning, or logistics, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in large‑scale mining, construction, or industrial projects is preferred.
- Experience with ERP implementation or optimization projects is highly desirable.
- Worked with Master Data governance systems.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of inventory and materials planning systems, especially SAP S4HANA, Ariba, and Microsoft Power BI.
- Experience with related systems such as Celonis or SAP Signavio.
- Understanding of supply‑chain interfaces with SAP FI/CO, SAP PM and other construction‑related projects.
