Hydra Search are seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the water industry to join an Engineering Consultancy who are opening a brand new office in Brisbane.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of control systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, with a strong focus on Siemens PLCs and PCS7 systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, configure, and maintain control systems for water and wastewater treatment processes
* Program, test, and commission Siemens PLC systems (including S7 family)
* Configure, engineer, and support Siemens PCS7 DCS
* Develop and maintain functional design specifications, control philosophies, and software documentation
* Support site installation, commissioning, and start-up activities
* Diagnose and resolve control system faults and performance issues
* Work closely with process, electrical, and mechanical engineers to deliver integrated solutions
* Ensure systems comply with industry standards, client specifications, and safety regulations
* Provide ongoing operational support and system upgrades for existing installations
Required Experience & Skills:
* Minimum 5 years' experience as a Control Systems Engineer within the water or wastewater industry
* Strong hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs (S7-300/400/1200/1500 as applicable)
* Proven experience with Siemens PCS7 engineering, configuration, and commissioning
* Experience with PLC Schneider and/or Rockwell desirable
* Solid understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes
* Experience with ClearSCADA/GeoSCADA
* Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and control documentation
* Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Control, Automation, or Systems Engineering
