The Opportunity
We are seeking a committed and community-focused Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer to join our Inklings team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that Aboriginal families can engage confidently and equitably with the Inklings program — a research initiative focused on early intervention for young children showing signs of developmental delay.
You Will Be Responsible For
* Building and maintaining respectful relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders, and families.
* Supporting Aboriginal families during intake and exit from the Inklings program.
* Advocating for families and assisting practitioners in delivering culturally safe and respectful services
* Representing the program at forums, events, and community meetings.
* Working closely with internal stakeholders and the broader community to raise awareness and promote understanding of the program.
This is a part-time position (0.2 – 0.4 FTE) offered on a casual basis through to November 2026.
About You
You are someone with a strong connection to community and a passion for supporting Aboriginal families and children. You bring cultural knowledge, empathy, and excellent communication skills to everything you do.
You Will Also Have The Following Skills And Experience
* Demonstrated understanding of the cultural, social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal communities,
* Experience in community engagement, health promotion or stakeholder liaison.
* Confidence in providing culturally appropriate information to individuals and families.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Self-motivation and flexibility, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
* A genuine interest in child development and early intervention (experience in this area is desirable).
