Overview

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Director, Parole and Court Practice to provide executive leadership for Corrections Victoria, Community Operations.

About This Role

Seeking proven leadership experience gained in a complex environment. Lead the delivery of Community Correctional Services. Senior Executive appointment SES1 $232,790 - $298,488 total remuneration package.

About The Business Unit

Corrections Victoria's purpose is to enhance community safety through the operation of safe and humane community corrections, adult prison and post-sentence systems that supports reducing reoffending by delivering on the fundamentals of good order and control in prisons, a professional and skilled workforce, case management and programs and services that address the root causes of offending behaviour. Community Operations is responsible for the operation of Victoria's Correctional Services (CCS), with over 8000 people on community-based orders across more than 35 locations. It supports the safe management of offenders and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour. Parole and Court Practice is responsible for providing central end-to-end leadership of CCS services.

About The Role

Some of your duties will include:

* Provide technical expertise and leadership in the delivery of CCS across Victoria, driving continuous improvement.
* Driving community safety outcomes through risk management, practice integrity, policy and practice development.
* Support the Deputy Commissioner, Community Operations, to effectively address high-risk and sensitive issues critical to the 24/7 operation of community correctional services in Victoria.
* Develop and maintain contemporary CCS operational policies procedures and programs to ensure CCS has the operational framework to meet its statutory and legal obligations, offender needs and community expectations.
* Develop and implement budget initiatives to support a fiscally sustainable community corrections system.
* Engaging with legal professionals and representing Corrections Victoria in court proceedings and legal matters, including litigation, coronial inquests, and criminal proceedings, ensuring organisational interests are protected and statutory responsibilities are met.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Recognised knowledge, specialist expertise and a record of achievement at a state-wide or national level in corrections operations or a similar operational program area, preferably in a complex statutory operating framework.
* Established expert knowledge of legal, operational and policy risks impacting corrections in Victoria.
* A record of achievement in managing large service delivery workforces to improve performance.
* Demonstrated executive capability in improving service delivery performance and outcomes in complex environments. Proven ability to use data and evidence to drive operational improvements, address underperformance, and deliver safe, effective services that enhance compliance, rehabilitation outcomes, and community safety, while meeting legislative and policy requirements.
* Highly developed skills in engaging, influencing, and negotiating with senior stakeholders, including courts, legal professionals, government agencies, and community partners, to achieve shared outcomes.

Qualifications / Requirements

* A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is highly desirable.
