Role Overview
The Gardener – Handyperson is responsible for maintaining the school grounds in a safe and tidy condition, ensuring a conducive external learning environment for students and staff.
This includes overseeing the upkeep of turf areas, garden beds, shrubs, trees, and various soft landscapes; maintaining hard landscaping features such as courts and paving, marking sports areas, and conducting minor repairs in line with departmental policies.
The role also requires keeping gardening facilities, equipment, tools, and machinery clean and serviceable, reporting faults promptly, and adhering to safe work practices.
Responsibilities
Maintain turf areas, garden beds, shrubs, trees, and other soft landscape features.
Maintain hard landscaping features including courts, paving, and sports area markings.
Conduct minor repairs in accordance with departmental policies.
Keep gardening facilities, equipment, tools, and machinery clean, serviceable, and in good working order.
Report faults and safety concerns promptly.

Eligibility
Obtain a valid Working With Children Check.
Obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting.
Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
