Carpenter and Maintenance Technician - Permanent Full Time
The Carpenter and Maintenance technician is responsible for providing high quality work to CBS clientele in the form of maintenance, manufacture and modification to client's homes within the scope of a carpenter's qualification and experience. They will work closely with the coordinators and other members of the Support at Home Team to assist our clients to maintain their independence with the goal of keeping them living at home for as long as it is safe to do so. At times, the Carpenter may assist other services within CBS.
Key responsibilities:
* Undertake relevant and approved maintenance, manufacture and modification to client's homes, such as installations of ramps, handrails and other assistive work
* Complete minor maintenance tasks, including minor plaster and paint repairs, installation of smoke alarms, changing lightbulbs, re-swinging doors, restringing clothesline and other tasks as requested
* Undertake routine preventative maintenance and respond promptly to reactive maintenance requirements, including servicing taps and minor repairs
* Liaise with coordinator and clients, manage expectations
* Provide quotes based on drawings / specifications, recommendations from Allied Health Professionals
* Budget for and source appropriate materials to complete tasks
* Assist to maintain and repair CBS site plants and equipment
* Work safely and efficiently to meet job targets within set budget / schedule
* Act as subject matter expert and provide advice and support to the Coordinator Home Modifications and Maintenance
* Develop and maintain quality relationships that positively represents CBS with clients, families and all other key stakeholders
* Maintain records, document actions and present written progress reports as required
* Comply with all relevant codes and legislation relative to position such as Australian Standards in accordance with CBS policies and procedures, consultation with managerial directions, program and funding guidelines
* Demonstrated competence in the use of information technology, internet and desktop applications

What you bring:
* A minimum of Certificate III in Carpentry or relevant qualifications and/or experience
* Previous experience in fit out and maintenance positions (desirable)
* Proven experience working independently in clients' homes without supervision; and
* High level understanding and/or experience in working with the needs of elderly and or people with disabilities.
* A current, unrestricted, manual driver's licence
* Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration with NDIS endorsement (or ability to obtain)
* A National Police Check that is no older than 3 months (or ability to obtain)
