What are Learning Clubs?
Learning Clubs provide a safe, fun, supportive learning environment where students participate in educational activities or receive help with their schoolwork from dedicated tutors, outside of school hours.
Why become a volunteer tutor?
Becoming a volunteer tutor gives you the chance to support young people experiencing poverty with their educational and personal development, helping them keep up in class and ultimately succeed at school.
Qualifications & qualities
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including a strong ability to communicate well with young people
* A friendly and positive attitude
* The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Key responsibilities
* Assist students in completing homework tasks
* Assist students in developing skills and knowledge in particular subject areas through structured activities
* Model and encourage appropriate behavioural standards and build positive relationships with students
* Club set up and pack down (e.g., tables, chairs, resources, fruit)
* Liaise with the Club Coordinator on students' support needs and progress
Commitment
Generally, we seek a volunteer commitment of 1‑2 hours (once per week) for a minimum of two school terms (around 18 weeks). Clubs typically run just after school finishes.
Date & time: Wednesday from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM during school term.
Applicants must be 18 or over.
