Associate Director, Strategic Projects

* Join Liquor & Gaming NSW, we're responsible for regulating liquor, wagering, gaming, and registered clubs in NSW
* This is a Clerk Grade 11/12 role with a salary range of $149,739 - $173,174 per annum plus superannuation
* Ongoing role based in Sydney, NSW - Hybrid working arrangements may be available within business operational needs

About The Role

The Associate Director, Strategic Projects leads the delivery of priority strategic and reform projects within the Hospitality and Racing Division, ensuring projects are effectively prioritised, resourced and delivered to achieve intended outcomes and public value.

Sitting within the Data Strategy and Projects team, the role is responsible for coordinating the divisional project portfolio and supporting the establishment and operation of the project management capability. The Associate Director provides expert leadership on project delivery, risk management and stakeholder engagement, translating strategic priorities into executable programs of work and enabling the successful delivery of complex, cross agency initiatives across the division.

About You
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following key knowledge and experience:

* Expertise in stakeholder management and strong leadership skills and ability to drive performance in complex, politically and commercially sensitive environment
* Working at a senior or executive level in a complex organisation delivering specialist and authoritative advice to executive leadership
* Strong understanding of program and portfolio management methodologies (such as MSP, PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile or similar), with the ability to interpret and apply their core principles in the context of organisational settings
* Ability to tailor delivery approaches, governance and controls to suit organisational maturity, risk and strategic priorities.
* Experience in establishing or improving PMO processes, standards and ways of working, with sound judgement in assessing project and program documentation.
* Demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesise information and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including influencing without authority across diverse teams.
* Advanced skills in program and portfolio reporting, including strong knowledge of reporting tools and templates to support effective oversight and decision making
