Group and Team: City Welcome Group and Customer Service Team
Location: Council Centre Employment status: Permanent Part-time 0.97 FTEClassification: Municipal Officer Level 1Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2024Salary range: $62,713 to $73,952 per annum (pro-rata) + 13.5% superannuation.

About the role

This role contributes to the success of the City by acting as the first point of contact for community members and visitors. The Customer Service Officer assists clients with enquiries and payments both in person and over the phone, and provides general administrative support within the work group.
Role accountabilities include:
• Providing high quality customer service and representing the Council in a positive and professional manner
• Updating and managing requests and information within Council systems
• Assisting customers with a range of enquiries including development appraisal, animal management, and residential parking
• Directing enquiries to the appropriate Council Officer
• Processing payments for rates, parking infringements, and other Council activities with accuracy in cash handling
• Providing general administrative and clerical assistance to support the work group

You are a people focused individual with a strong commitment to customer service. You understand how to remain calm, respectful, and solutions focused when assisting a diverse range of customers. You are confident using multiple systems, able to manage competing demands, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a supportive team. You will bring strong communication skills, solid administrative capability, and a genuine interest in helping members of the community navigate Council services.
