Are you looking to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with disability? As a volunteer Leisure Buddy, you will have the opportunity to form a meaningful connection with a young man in his late 20s who needs a friend.
This is an exciting role where you can make a genuine difference by sharing your interests and passions. Your new friend enjoys chatting about various topics, including movies, music, dancing, cooking, sports, shopping, planes, and gardening. He would love to watch or attend AFL games together (he's a Collingwood fan).
Your friend is friendly, fun, and caring, and values good conversations and new experiences. As his companion, you will be expected to provide patient and compassionate support, which can be adapted to his individual needs.
To become a Leisure Buddy, you do not need any prior experience. However, you will receive face-to-face and online training to equip you for this rewarding role.
The minimum commitment is six months, with two hours of volunteering per fortnight. This flexible arrangement allows you to balance your schedule while providing regular social connection to someone who needs it.
As a Leisure Buddy, you will gain valuable skills and experience while making a real difference in your community. If you are passionate about building relationships and supporting individuals with disability, this is an excellent opportunity for you.
