The role

Edith Cowan University (ECU) School of Education is one of the largest providers of Initial Teacher Education offering a broad range of programs including Early Childhood Studies, Primary, Secondary and Postgraduate Education.

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join the Professional Experience (PEx) Team. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate essential administrative functions and lead a dynamic team to ensure the smooth operations of student placements.

Role

Reporting to the Manager of Professional Experience and Student Support, you will manage an administrative team, oversee work allocations, ensure compliance with ECU policies and foster a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the PEx team's daily operations, ensuring quality service delivery, adherence to ECU policies, and support for staff development.
  • Build strong, service‐focused relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with ECU's objectives and values.
  • Recruit casual academic staff, ensuring compliance with ECU policies and legislative requirements.
  • Manage team rosters, performance plans, and staff development, while promoting a collaborative team environment.
  • Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance service quality, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Support and mentor staff through high‐level administrative tasks, training, and feedback to foster growth and professional development.

Experience

We seek a proactive individual with a degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, with demonstrated expertise in team management, service delivery, and effective communication. You are someone who builds positive relationships, adapts to diverse work styles, and thrives in a customer‐focused setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in high‐level administration and project coordination, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong team management abilities, including performance planning, training, and development.
  • Ability to foster collaboration, resolve conflicts, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with a focus on achieving timely outcomes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Benefits & Remuneration

This 12‐month fixed‐term position attracts remuneration ranging from $92,087 to $99,353 (0.8FTE pro rata), plus 17% university superannuation contribution.
ECU supports work‐life balance for staff through flexible working arrangements and family‐friendly hours spread across five days.
