About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Cybersecurity Detection & Monitoring Architect to step into a high‑impact technical leadership role, driving the end‑to‑end design and operationalisation of cyber monitoring use cases across complex enterprise and cloud‑connected environments. This position brings together detection engineering, architectural strategy, automation, governance alignment and operational uplift.
In this role, you'll translate security and compliance requirements into high‑fidelity, scalable and repeatable monitoring controls that meaningfully strengthen detection capability. You'll also ensure these controls align with organisational priorities and integrate seamlessly into operational workflows. Working in close partnership with SOC teams, platform engineering, governance and enterprise architecture, you'll play a pivotal role in elevating detection standards and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the organisation's monitoring ecosystem.
Responsibilities
* Design and maintain high-value cyber monitoring and detection use cases.
* Translate security and governance requirements into implementable monitoring controls.
* Engineer and optimize detection lifecycle: telemetry onboarding, parsing/normalization, correlation, alerting, and tuning.
* Build repeatable automation for deployment, validation, and operational handover.
* Produce high-quality technical artifacts (architecture docs, implementation guides, runbooks, test plans).
* Collaborate with SOC, engineering, platform, and governance teams to prioritize and deliver improvements.
* Improve detection quality by balancing coverage, fidelity, and operational noise.
* Support continuous uplift of monitoring architecture and engineering standards.
Must-Have
* Minimum NV1 security clearance.
* 5+ years in cybersecurity engineering, SOC/detection engineering, or security architecture.
* Strong hands-on experience with enterprise SIEM/log analytics platforms.
* Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent).
* Experience with infrastructure/configuration automation practices.
* Experience mapping technical controls to security/compliance frameworks.
* Strong technical writing skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders
Desirable
* Hybrid-cloud monitoring and security telemetry experience.
* Exposure to vulnerability management platforms and security scanning integrations.
* Experience developing reusable templates or structured frameworks for cyber use-case delivery.
* Familiarity with AI and LLM-related security monitoring considerations.
* Experience operating within regulated, high-assurance or mission-critical environments.
