Production Engineer

We are currently seeking a Production Engineer to join our Forrestfield team and play a key role in driving efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations.
About the Role
The Production Engineer is responsible for evaluating and improving manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, cost-effective production of high-quality trailers. This is a hands-on role working closely with production, engineering, procurement, and maintenance teams to optimise workflows, resolve technical issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Evaluate and improve production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain high-quality standards
* Develop and implement production schedules in collaboration with the production team
* Establish and maintain quality control procedures aligned with industry standards
* Identify and resolve production issues to minimise downtime
* Monitor production costs and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality
* Analyse production data, identify trends, and provide reports to management
* Coordinate with maintenance to ensure equipment is operating efficiently
* Support continuous improvement initiatives across relevant product lines
* Work closely with Engineering to design to client specifications
* Review materials to ensure they meet budget, specification, and availability requirements
* Liaise with stakeholders to resolve design or timeframe challenges
* Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and company safety policies
About You
You are solutions-focused, technically capable, and confident working in a fast-paced heavy manufacturing environment. You enjoy collaborating with production teams and have a strong eye for process optimisation and quality.
Essential:
* Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field
* 3–5 years’ experience in heavy manufacturing
* Strong experience with ERP systems
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor (3D modelling and detailing)
* Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards (drawings, welding, metal fabrication)
* Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated leadership capability
Desirable:
* Experience in trailer or transport equipment manufacturing
