About the role

We are currently looking for an experienced law clerk to join our Development team in Melbourne.

Our law clerk team manages a wide range of developments including both large and small scale Apartment, Townhouse and Land Projects. You will have responsibilities and involvement in a wide range of areas, including:

* Working as part of a large team of law clerks who manage the contract administration of a conveyancing transaction from Day of Sale to Settlement;
* Working on active projects, and assisting with any overflow work on an ad hoc basis;
* Providing advice and guidance to clients during the lifecycle of a development as required, including Sales Summaries, Finance Reports and Settlement Summaries;
* Preparation of Land Registry documentation for Plan of Subdivision lodgement, monitoring progress and advising your Project Team and client when registration occurs;
* Maintaining Contract information in Maddocks' own Conveyancing Software with the assistance of Administrative Assistants; and
* Conducting bulk settlements including preparation of the settlement figures and documents and using PEXA Projects to complete the settlements.

We work in a hybrid way at Maddocks, with part of our week in the office, and also have wider flexible working arrangements, whether that's hours, place of work or the leave you take. We welcome the opportunity to talk to you about working flexibly.

About you

Ideally, you will have:

* A high standard of drafting correspondence, competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PEXA, DutiesOnline, SPEAR, ePortfolio, Expert and other relevant software programs;
* Knowledge of law, relevant processes and terminology required for a conveyancing transaction;
* High attention to detail;
* Be able to produce accurate, high quality work in a timely manner;
* Be proactive and prioritise activities according to level of urgency;
* The ability to communicate effectively across all levels;
* Be able to identify when a transaction requires input or supervision from a Development Lawyer;
* Be able to remain calm under pressure during periods of high work volumes and strict timeframes.
* Confident working with minimal supervision and proactively supporting the broader team when needed.
