Hong Kong (Relocation support available for Australian candidates)
We are partnering with a globally recognised reinsurance organisation to appoint a Senior Vice President – Reinsurance. This is a senior leadership role with broad exposure across risk, capital, and strategic decision-making within a dynamic international environment.
Based in Hong Kong, this opportunity is well suited to experienced Australian actuaries open to an international move, offering both career acceleration and global exposure.
The Opportunity
You will play a key role in shaping and enhancing the organisation's risk framework, ensuring robust identification, measurement, and management of risk across the business. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will influence strategic decisions by balancing risk and opportunity at an enterprise level.
This is a highly visible role with regular interaction with executive leadership, board committees, and global teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and enhancement of the risk management framework, including methodologies and reporting
* Oversee economic capital modelling, including stochastic modelling and scenario generation
* Drive risk initiatives across the Life & Health reinsurance portfolio, providing challenge and insight to business teams
* Deliver key regulatory and internal reporting, including capital submissions, ORSA, and stress testing
* Partner with cross-functional teams (finance, investments, valuation, and operations) to embed risk management into decision-making
* Engage with external stakeholders including regulators and rating agencies
About You
* Qualified actuary (FSA, FIA, or FIAA) with significant post-qualification experience (ideally around 10 years+)
* Extensive background in actuarial, risk, or capital management within insurance, reinsurance, or financial services
* Strong experience in capital modelling and risk frameworks
* Understanding of regulatory capital regimes (e.g. Solvency II or equivalent)
* Exposure to Life & Health insurance is highly regarded
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
* Experience with programming (R, Python, SQL) and risk modelling tools is advantageous
