Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running and support all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual access to innovation. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and are looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of hardware and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with colleagues across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing scalable capacity at low cost for customers. Responsibilities
* Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure. Ensure that all work performed within the space is done to high quality and without impact to internal/external customers.
* Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians in all facets of their careers.
* Engage in improvement projects, coordinating with a variety of support teams and driving them from conception to completion.
* Coordinate daily with third party vendors to ensure adherence to contracted SLAs.
* Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.
* Operate as the after-hours on-call Data Center Facility Manager for the data centers in the region.
* Respond to any issues within the data centers and manage the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s).
Basic Qualifications
* 3+ years of relevant experience working in a data center or other critical environments with extensive knowledge in UPS, Generators, HVAC, Evaporators and other critical infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
* Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems involved in data center operations, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAHU units.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to prepare technical writing or business justifications (white papers).
* Advanced electrical or mechanical certifications (Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline).
