Senior ICT Project Delivery Role (EL1 Equivalent) Cloud Development Environment

This Federal Government Agency is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the establishment and rollout of a new Cloud Development Environment designed to uplift engineering practices and modernise development workflows across the organisation. This role will suit someone who can translate cloud architecture, security, and development requirements into a cohesive delivery plan, while shaping strategic thinking and driving large‑scale ICT transformation.
The Technology branch provides ICT services, technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, software platforms, and governance for information and data assets. It supports the organisation’s strategic priorities and delivers digital capabilities to internal and partner stakeholders.
Your new role
The Project Management team leads and oversees complex, large‑scale technical projects and digital transformation initiatives. They manage the planning, delivery, integration and implementation of enterprise systems and technology solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy, architecture, security and operational needs. The team is responsible for program and project delivery across Technology projects, working collaboratively with the business and stakeholders.
Project Managers oversee all aspects of Technology project delivery, including:
1. Vendor contracts
2. Engagement agreements
3. Implementation of change for staff, clients and systems
Working under broad direction, the Technical Project Manager will:
* Lead the delivery of a new Cloud Development Environment using structured and agile project management methods.
* Coordinate vendor contracts, engagement agreements, and commercial delivery obligations.
* Shape and maintain a clear vision for project outcomes and business benefits.
* Translate business and technical requirements into actionable project plans.
* Oversee scope, cost, scheduling, and benefits realisation activities.
* Manage interdependencies, risks, and resource scheduling across technical workstreams.
* Support frameworks for business change and adoption initiatives.
* Ensure compliance with project governance, quality standards, and assurance processes.
What you'll need to succeed
As an EL1‑level Technical Project Manager, you will:
* Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and help promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
* Communicate clearly and persuasively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Mentor junior staff and build capability in project delivery practices.
* Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and take accountability for significant ICT initiatives.
* Confidently negotiate outcomes, resolve complex issues, and influence stakeholders.
* Bring experience in agile methodologies and contemporary ICT project management.
* Hold relevant qualifications and/or experience in portfolio, program or project management (highly regarded).
* Hold a current Baseline security clearance (minimum).
What you'll get in return
In return, you will get an initial contract term to 30/06/2027 with a possible 2 possible 6-month extension. This role is based is ACT with hybrid working options.
