We're currently looking for a Packaging Technologist to join our Kinrise Snackfoods team on a max‐term, parental leave contract. Based primarily at our Dandenong South with travel to Braeside and Keysborough as required, this role plays a key part in leading the next wave of packaging innovation, sustainability and operational excellence.
About The Role
The Packaging Technologist is responsible for leading packaging development from concept to commercialisation, driving value engineering and sustainability initiatives, and partnering closely with Operations, Marketing, Procurement and suppliers to deliver smarter, faster, more efficient packaging solutions. The role focuses on improving line performance, reducing environmental impact, and ensuring packaging meets the highest standards of quality, safety and consumer experience.
Key Responsibilities, Include But Are Not Limited To
* Lead packaging innovation from concept to commercialisation, including prototyping, feasibility testing and ensuring designs meet brand, product and sustainability requirements.
* Optimise packaging performance by improving durability, functionality, shelf life and consumer experience while supporting new equipment, processes and CAPEX decisions.
* Drive value engineering, identifying cost‐out opportunities, efficiency improvements and material optimisation across all Snackfoods sites.
* Champion sustainability, delivering recyclable and lower impact packaging solutions and ensuring progress against APCO and internal sustainability targets.
* Manage multiple projects end to end, collaborating with Marketing, Operations, Sales, Procurement and suppliers to deliver on time, in full and to brief.
* Ensure compliance and quality, maintaining accurate specifications, test records and documentation while supporting audits and safe packaging practices.
About You
* Strong knowledge of packaging materials, processing technologies and APCO requirements.
* Experience with sustainable packaging and lifecycle analysis.
* Excellent stakeholder management and project leadership skills.
* Creative, solutions‐focused mindset with strong commercial acumen.
* Ability to thrive in a fast‐paced, agile environment with shifting priorities.
* Degree in Packaging Technology, Food Science/Technology or related field.
