Operations Director Job Description
Aurizon is seeking an experienced operations leader to join our Gladstone team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of Aurizon's rail operations, working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver safe, reliable and efficient train services to our customers.
This role involves championing a safety and leadership culture that promotes a safe environment for employees.
The roster for this role includes shifts up to 12 hours over days, nights, weekends and public holidays.
About the Role:
* Lead a team of train crew and operational staff
* Set and monitor performance standards and behavioural standards to build a high-performance team
* Contribute to a learning environment by spending time in the field engaging with crew
* Ensure optimum driving methodologies are adhered to by reviewing downloads and providing feedback
* Work in collaboration with rostering and scheduling teams to manage training, annual leave and attendance levels
* Manage performance and disciplinary matters if required
* Take accountability for incident investigations within the area of responsibility and conduct detailed investigation reports
* Analyse and interpret data to report and respond to service delivery demands throughout the day of operation
About You:
We are looking for candidates with 3+ years' experience in a leadership role, ideally in a logistics or heavy industry environment.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and influence employees to make sound safe choices.
Demonstrated frontline leadership capability including task assignment, problem solving and performance management is essential.
Candidates should also be able to demonstrate their effectiveness at engaging team members, establishing and sustaining relationships and setting clear direction.
High organisational skills and the ability to prioritise conflicting tasks are also required.
The successful candidate will be required to work on a 24/7 shift roster.
