Family Lawyer (2–4 Years PAE)

Tiernan Family Law is a growing and client-focused practice dedicated exclusively to family law. We are seeking a motivated and capable Family Lawyer with 2–4 years’ post-admission experience to join our team on a full-time basis.
This position is based in Coolangatta. We offer a hybrid working arrangement combining office-based work and working from home. Enjoy working in a beautiful coastal location with a supportive and genuinely amazing team culture.

We are a fixed-fee family law firm, committed to transparency and delivering value to our clients. Importantly, there are no billable hour targets. Our focus is on quality work, client outcomes, and sustainable workloads — not timesheets.
About the Role
You will manage your own files with appropriate supervision and support, working directly with clients across a broad range of family law matters. The role includes Court appearances, negotiations, and attending and conducting mediations on behalf of clients.
Matters will include:
* Parenting disputes
* Property settlements
* Divorce applications
* Consent Orders and Binding Financial Agreements
* Domestic and family violence matters
* Attendance at mediations and dispute resolution conferences
This role is well suited to a practitioner who is confident running files independently and is looking to further develop their advocacy, negotiation, and mediation skills in a progressive and supportive environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* 2–4 years’ PAE with demonstrated experience in family law
* Be admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia and hold (or be eligible to hold) a current Queensland practicing certificate
* Have a minimum of two (2) years post-admission experience practicing predominantly in family law
* The ability to manage files autonomously
* Court experience across all stages of litigation and mediation
* Experience attending mediations
* Strong drafting and advocacy skills
* Excellent client communication and time management skills
* A proactive and solutions-focused approach
* The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
