Job description

We also deliver rights information sessions and work to change systems so that our clients' rights are protected. We work for older people, people with disability or mental health conditions and people who use alcohol or other drugs. Our service is free, confidential and statewide.

Our Advocates work to uphold their clients' rights, to achieve fairer outcomes and to raise awareness of those rights in the community or where our clients are located. This could include getting services their client is entitled to, making a complaint, fixing their problems or changing things that don't feel right.
Our Advocates listen to their client, provide information and options and support their client to fix their problem themself through self advocacy support, or they will advocate on behalf of their client if that's what their client prefers. Our Advocates are independent from service providers and only act according to their client's wishes.
This position will work primarily with older Tasmanians however advocacy support may be required across other client groups.
